Winter in August? NHS staff can’t cope with the influx of patients due to the heatwave and have had to open emergency wards, usually reserved for the winter.
As temperatures continue to rise the NHS is starting to feel the pressure as patients continue to increase. St Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight, has seen more than 50 extra people a day come into its emergency department. In this hospital alone over 180 patients are visiting a day, with the majority suffering from dehydration and/or heatstroke.
It’s not just the patients suffering from the heatwave but the workforce too. A combination of the heatwave, longer shifts, impractical uniforms, inefficient air conditioning and poor ventilation, are making it extremely difficult for nurses to work.
One solution that has been provided in hospitals across the UK is placing ice creams trucks in hospital carparks for the NHS staff.
With heatwaves anticipated to heighten over the years, is there an immediate solution to staying cool, comfortable and ultimately safe for both patients and the workforce?
The answer is yes, with the award-winning Ingenious Air® System. It combines comfortable, draught-free cooling and heating with air and surface purification. This creates the ultimate, balanced and healthy indoor environment, which improves wellness and productivity.
For patients suffering from the heat, the much-needed cooling option creates an even, comfortable and draught-free indoor environment. The induction method of air delivery allows for lowered relative humidity when cooling, which can achieve comfort at slightly warmer set temperatures than other systems.
Come winter, the heating option uses a natural, energy efficient de-stratification effect. Warmed air that usually rises and is trapped at a high level is brought back down to floor level to be re-used. Cold air normally falling to floor level is re-distributed.
For any medical facility, integrating high specification air purification dramatically reduces all types of serious airborne diseases before they are breathed in. Air purification also removes unpleasant odours, which can have the potential benefit of reducing the amount of polluted outside air required.
Complete the system with surface purification, powered by Provilan® to create the ultimate wellness solution. Probiotics are added to the air stream to add balance by replenishing the ‘good’ bacteria. These high quality, natural and eco-friendly microorganisms help reduce Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAI) and other infectious diseases.
Backed by years of experience, research and development and various case studies, The Ingenious Air® System can help hospitals, workplaces, homes and everything in between.
