The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has backed a new study which will test the effectiveness of air quality control.
He launched the campaign at Netley Primary School in Camden, although the tests will take place at two schools; one in Luton and one in central London. The two schools will consist of two groups, each with 1,500+ primary school students.
These schools have been chosen in particular as they both have similar levels of pollution, but are doing different things to improve the air quality. The central London school will be within the new Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) as of April 2019, whereas Luton Borough Council is overseeing their own changes, including reducing stationary traffic and increasing cycle lanes.
Experts have said that although low emission zones will undoubtedly improve air quality, they are not sure whether they benefit health. The results of the study will be able to determine this, and if successful, it should then be implemented globally.
The study will be conducted over the course of 4 years, monitoring the exposure of air pollution to all the children involved. It will also use a spirometer to measure the size and the function of their lungs.
With the family’s permission, the team behind the study would also like to access the children’s health records. They would be looking at how many times they visited a medical facility related to respiratory problems.
There is no disputing this is a positive step in the right direction long-term, but what about short-term?
Fortunately, there is a simple and effective solution with instant results: The powerful technology of the Ingenious Air® System, with the Purification and Probiotic modules.
High specification air purification removes Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and other harmful pollutants that are naked to the eye. It also removes disease-causing viruses and bacteria, allergens, dust and unpleasant odours.
Go a step further by protecting any indoor environment, with the revolutionary technology of Probiotic. It cleans air, surfaces and objects especially in those hard to reach areas, by creating an environment rich in beneficial bacteria.
Whether they are alone or paired together, both offer much lower maintenance compared to other systems, dramatically reducing valuable time, risks and on-going costs.
